Our local and thriving Friends of Chamber Music (FCM) is at it again! On April 29 at 7 p.m., FCM is inviting all Bryan College Station residents to soak up the beautiful and romantic sounds of pianist Rachel Cheung at FCM’s “GRAND SEASON FINALE: HAYDN, BEETHOVEN, RAVEL, CHOPIN.”
It’s not an exaggeration to say that the exceptional talent of Rachel Cheung inspires awe. Elena Reece, Artistic Director of FCM, says that Cheung, since receiving the Audience Prize at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, “has been known to classical music lovers around the globe for her refined and elegant performing style.” Reece continues by stating that Cheung’s performance displays “great virtuosity in the most challenging works in the piano literature.”
The combination of Cheung’s expressive talent and a spectacular line up of music will bring the 21-22 FCM season to a perfect close. Cheung will perform pieces by Ravel, Chopin, one of Beethoven’s late sonatas and two works by Haydn.
This concert will take place at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center, located next to the George Bush Library. Both the concert and parking are free, but if you are attending virtually, you will need to register on the FCM website to enjoy the event.
FCM has produced world-class concerts for the BCS community for over 25 years, but also organize outreach programs at local schools and colleges as well as offer music scholarships for local high schoolers who continue their music education in college, no matter what their major is.
Whether in person or online, don’t miss the closing performance of the season with Rachel Cheung!
