Downtown Bryan’s November First Friday

0

It’s First Friday time again! Destination Bryan, along with Baylor Scott and White-College Station, will once again bring the festivities to historic Downtown Bryan for First Friday on Nov. 5. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family, including a free concert where Steady Legend will perform starting at 8 p.m.

Steady Legend is a soul, rock, funk and reggae band founded by Michael Mancuso in Austin back in 2011. They play a mix of original songs and covers that range from the 60’s all the way to the hits of today, so anyone that attends will hear something they love. Their original music is led by their horn section, which is composed and arranged by Mancuso himself, and with the help of vocalist Analysa Gonzales, they’ll make you tap your foot and bob your head throughout the entire show. “We’ve had them in downtown Bryan a couple of years ago, they’re really good,” says Abigail Noel, PR and Communications Manager for Destination Bryan. You don’t have to take Noel’s words for it though, Steady Legend is often placed in the Austin Chronicle’s “Best Performing Bands” list, and won third place back in 2016. The free concert takes place at the Palace Theater in Downtown Bryan. The show starts at 8 p.m. and seating is first come first served.

Be sure to check out ALL the First Friday fun! Visit the Brazos Valley Farmers Market to find locally grown produce and handmade products. Admire the classic cars in front of Hudson Barber Emporium, and if you’re an art fan, don’t miss LIVEart’s showcase of paintings, sculptures, photography and more, all created by local artists. They will also give live art demonstrations on 26th Street. You’ll also find street musicians performing, and be sure to stop by Grand Stafford Theater for another free concert: Rococo Disco with 13th Hour, starting at 7:30 p.m.

This year, Bryan celebrates their 150 year anniversary, and to get in on the fun, go on a Bryan Guided History Tour. It’s free, but you will need to RSVP. Tours start at 6 p.m. and at 7 p.m. and you’ll check in at the front of the Carnegie Library.

First Friday is also a time where local businesses in downtown Bryan get in on the celebration. “A lot of the businesses do some kind of special activity, some of the retail places have a sale going on,” says Noel. So if you want to get the full First Friday experience, wander through downtown and see what you can find!

Free parking will be available at marked spots along the streets as well as available in the lot between Papa Perez and Sale Park. You can also pay to park at the Roy Kelly Garage near Texas Ave. Visit Destination Bryan’s website for more information about First Friday along with other local events.
