This Weekend at GST

First Friday is back and better than ever! This month the legendary Grand Stafford Theater will be hosting popular punk band Paper Brigade for their free First Friday concert on May 6, and on Saturday, May 7, band karaoke with The Screamlongs. Enjoy back-to-back nights of music, dancing, eating and fun!

Texas native indie-rock band Paper Brigade will be showcasing their new project for Bryan-College Station residents. This new and cultured band is composed of three fathers who started their musical career last year. While the band has similar interests in writing lyrics around childhood wonder and sadness, they also incorporate stories regarding the beauty of life. To add to their diverse lyrical stories, their musical talents and instrumental gifts allow them to play wonderful guitar melodies. Doors for Paper Brigade open at 7:30 p.m. Kicking off the show will be Aisle 9 and Jasper. The concert is free, but if you’re searching for a more exclusive concert experience, you can purchase the premium pass on GST’s website for $10.

The Screamalongs offer an event of an entirely different sort. This event will have your throat hurting, body sweating, and head pounding… all in the best ways, of course. If you love rock bands and karaoke, you won’t want to miss The Screamalongs presented by 979 Rocks. With rock karaoke options such as Greenday, Nirvana, and Panic at the Disco, you will not be disappointed. Doors for The Screamalongs open at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here for $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

There’s no better place to enjoy these talented and fun events than Bryan’s own Grand Stafford Theater (GST). This historic concert hall has been a Downtown Bryan hot-spot since 1910 when it was first built, although since then, it’s gone through numerous renovations and ownerships. Now, GST is a fun, welcoming venue that frequently hosts all kinds of entertainment.
