First Friday at Downtown Bryan

0

That special time of the month has come around again – First Friday! Welcome the new month on April 1 with a mixing pot of live music, food vendors, and fun activities in Downtown Bryan

This family-friendly event provides enough fun for everyone! From the monthly Hudson Barber Emporium’s classic car show on Main Street to The Aggie Magic Circle, a Texas A&M University student organization, there will be something for people of all ages. Exclusive to this First Friday, the Texas A&M Society of Automotive Engineers will present their Formula car to the public for the first time. Since the team broke the national record last year in Las Vegas, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take the first pictures of the Formula car and be a part of the presentation.

Art979 Art Loop is a dedicated section for local artists. Here, you can buy anything from jewelry to paintings as a keepsake for a fun evening or a unique gift for a friend. There’s also usually art activities for the kids to try out.

The live musical performances add a perfect touch to the ambiance of Downtown Bryan. Grifters & Shills will play rock and roll soul music in front of Acme Glass on Main Street while you get your face painted by Charity & Friends. Head on over to the Bryan Piano Man on 26th Street to participate in some karaoke fun, and if you want something a little more spiritual, English and Spanish Christian music will be playing on William J. Bryan. And if you’re a real music fanatic, drop by the Grand Stafford Theater for their free concert. This month, enjoy Rococo Disco with Push to Start, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Make sure to stop by the Brazos Valley Farmers’ Market to pick up some locally sourced food, because it’s only open from 5-9 p.m. The rest of the excitement will continue until 11 p.m. when First Friday is officially over. And there’s an array of dining options to choose from. For some finger-licking BBQ and all the draft beer you can think of, pop into All The King’s Men. Craving traditional Mexican cuisine? Dine at Cilantro Mexican Grill. If you have a sweet tooth, you’re in luck! Purchase a decorated cookie at Busha’s Custom Cookies and you’ll receive a free traditional drop cookie. The options are endless!
A flat rate of $5 will be charged for event parking at the Roy Kelly parking garage, located in close proximity to the Hudson Barber Emporium. Free parking is available outside of street closure areas, but these spots fill up fast so early arrival is definitely recommended.
