Downtown Bryan First Friday

0

Next Friday, June 3, from 5-10 p.m., First Friday is back to start summer festivities with live music, performances, art demonstrations, one-of-a-kind events and activities you won’t want to miss!

What better way to start your carefree evening off than by skipping the fight for parking? Take advantage of the free shuttle from Blinn College straight to Downtown. The shuttle runs throughout the evening from 5:30-10 p.m., so you can start off at Blinn in the parking lot next to Building A off of Villa Maria and catch the return ride at Roy Kelly Parking Garage.

Once you and your clan have arrived downtown, you’ll be greeted by fresh produce, spiffy classic cars, and unique art. The Brazos Valley Farmers’ Market will be selling locally grown produce and handmade goods in front of the Queen Theatre from 5-9 p.m. Catch a glimpse of some classic cars at the Hudson Barber Emporium’s Classic Car Show and check out the Art979 Art Loop—a dedicated area that gives local artists an opportunity to share their talent with the community.

While you’re perusing the various art and goodies downtown, take in all the performances along the streets. Watch Freestyle Underground Street Dancers showing off their freestyle dancing, magician Jaden Gilbert performing a magic show and don’t miss the live demonstrations by the Brazos Spinners & Weavers Guild with the Intersections Textile Learning Center that will take place in front of Corner of Time.

Before your First Friday comes to an end, be sure to stop by the table chess that will be available to play near the outside of Subway and get your face painted or balloon twisted by Charity & Friends near the LaSalle Hotel Courtyard and Papa Perez.

If you’re looking for live music, you can sure take your pick! All around the downtown area you’ll find music flowing, both out on the streets and inside the various venues. Take in the free concert at The Grand Stafford Theater, this month featuring Goldpine. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with music starting at 8 p.m.

Outside, you can hear Nick Roman playing live blues and rock music in front of Corner of Time Antiques, The Bryan Piano Man in front of the Carnegie History Center, Against the Grain performing rock and country music in front of Acme Glass, Taylor Jones playing folk and rock music Mr. G’s Pizza, Juan Barco performing folk, alternative and Indie rock music at 110 North Main Street, and piano music by Otro Chachito out front of Design Superstore. So, whatever your music tastes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
