Based on the novel by Dan Brown, “Inferno” – starring Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones, and Irrfan Khan – is a new action- packed thriller that hit theatres on October 28. Written by the author of “The Da Vinci Code,” this action packed film is the third in the Robert Langdon series and bases its plot off of Dante’s Divine Comedy.
In the film, famous symbolist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) follows a set of clues that tie a deadly virus back to the medieval poet, Dante. After waking up in a hospital in Italy, Langdon is posed to partner with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) to help him recover his memory. Together they travel across Europe to stop a madman from unleashing the deadly virus that could kill more than half of the population.

Unless you have a deep knowledge of Dante’s Inferno, the film is just like any other action film. It is entertaining, but the scholastic spin that they try to push is not well-received. To many, the story is muddled, but with all the chaos and mayhem, the story line is not that big of a deal.
The impressive scenery from the actual locations is something to be admired. Places like the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice are among the locations featured in the film.
Unfortunately, if you are familiar with the Langdon series (“Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons”) then you will see that the story line is predictable. The character development between the three films is nonexistent.
Inferno is rated PG-13 for violence, disturbing images, language, thematic elements, and brief sensuality.
