Determined never to become a cookie-cutter band, Flatland Cavalry creates an atmosphere like no other. Joined by guest Keller Cox, the full band performs live at Hurricane Harry’s Friday night, bringing electric energy and matchless melodies you won’t want to miss.
As it says on their Facebook page, the band’s musical triad of country, folk, and Americana is “easy on the ears, heavy on the heart.” Their 2019 album, “Homeland Insecurity,” reflects on their current season of life with honesty, combating the notion that life is easier as adults. Anxiety, uncertainty and resilience are some of the major themes that the band highlights, not letting you walk away with a surface-level experience.
“We’re all just out of college,” says Cleto Cordero on their website. “We’re in our mid-twenties. We’re all told growing up that by the time you’re out of school, you’ll have it all figured out, but that’s not really how it is. You’re still out there trying to find yourself.”
Their newest album, “Welcome to Countryland,” is set apart as perhaps their most meaningful album yet. The band maintains their upbeat energy and pours their heart into it like never before.
Guest Keller Cox was a former head yell leader for Texas A&M and is now a rising country artist. His music often contemplates “how life was, is, and ought to be,” as explained on his website. His acoustic sound and deep southern drawl will pull you in. Find his new EP streaming on major platforms.
