If you’re searching for things to do in your spare time now that the semester is ending or family is in town, the Bryan-College Station area boasts an abundance of activities people of all interests can enjoy throughout the month of December. Mark down these dates on your calendar for a fun, holiday-filled time.

Marching through the streets of downtown Bryan on December 11 is the Downtown Lighted Christmas Parade. Sponsored by the Downtown Bryan Association, the parade will feature marching bands, antique cars, and of course, as the name suggests, a number of floats decorated in dazzling lights. Bryan mayor Jason Bienski will lead the parade through Downtown Bryan, which is illuminated by thousands of lights during the holiday season. All parade entries will have lights on them, adding to the festive atmosphere. The Bryan Fire Department will bring up the rear with special guest, Santa Claus. The parade will begin at 6:30pm at the corner of 24th and Bryan Street.

The Brazos Valley Chorale will be warming up their vocal chords before their concert “Once, As I Remember…” on the 14th at the First Presbyterian Church in Bryan beginning 7pm. Celebrating the holiday season, the chorale will be performing songs of celebration and traditional Christmas carols. The audience is encouraged to sing along, so warm up your own vocal cords to join in the festivity. Ticket prices for the concert range from $10 – $20.

Would you like some pie with that glass of wine? On Sunday the 20th, the Messina Hof Winery & Resort is hosting a wine-and-pie pairing event every hour on the hour from 12 – 4 pm, so satisfy your sweet tooth with some delicious samples. Reservations are recommended, and it costs just $20 per person.

Also on the 20th is Peach Creek Vineyards’ Holiday Party. For just $5, enjoy an evening of great food, great drinks, and great music from 5 – 8 pm. Musician Chris Austin Martinez will be providing the entertainment to help everyone feel the holiday spirit.

But what about New Year’s Eve? Well, the Messina Hof Winery offers an exciting “Superhero New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance” on December 31. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner from 6 – 9 pm, and then dance the night away from 9:30pm – 12:30am to celebrate the ringing in of the New Year. Visit the winery’s website for more information about how to have a few heroic last hours of 2015.

If you’re feeling more 70s than heroic, the Messina Hof Winery offers a second New Year’s Eve event that same night, “New Year’s Eve at the Disco.” From 9pm – 1am, get down on the dance floor in your best 70s getup while drinking far out wine and munching on fab food. Visit the website for more information about this groovy event.
