Czech Out Caldwell’s Kolache Festival

0

Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you were from a different country? What kind of food would you eat? What type of music you would listen to? Come on out to the Caldwell this weekend to find out how one group of Czechs answered those questions. Caldwell, also known as the Kolache Capital of Texas, is hosting its 35th annual Kolache Festival, where you can be Czech for a day on September 14.

Caldwell hosts the Kolache Festival every year to celebrate its Czech heritage. The festival is a way to introduce new generations to Czech language, music and art, as well as to remember and preserve the town’s enriching history.

The festival will have tons of fun events, including a Kolache Baking championship, a quilt show, kids activities, a street rod & classic car show, an antique machinery & tractor show and the Kolache Krunch 5K race. Over 100 arts and crafts vendors will be present, as well as an array of food vendors. You can also compete in the fan favorite kolache eating contest for a chance to win cash prizes and enjoy performances from Czech bands The Shiner Hobo Band, The Moravians & the Czech And Then Some Band.

The event’s opening ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at Main Street Caldwell, on the corner of Buck & Echols street. There is no cost to attend, and all ages are welcome, but no pets will be permitted. An all-day shuttle bus will be available at Caldwell High School to take participants to the festival.
