With ice cold beer, two-stepping, and live country music, summer nights in College Station don’t get much better than this. On June 30 Hurricane Harry’s should get a taste of all three when Cody Hibbard and Carson Jeffrey come to perform.
Cody Hibbard hasn’t been in the music game for long, but he’s made the most of his time. Hibbard has a country music origin story that sounds straight out of a song. He grew up on his family’s farm in Adair, Oklahoma, and spent seven years working on a pipeline. One day while at lunch with friends, he was encouraged to sing for the waitress. He went outside, played three songs, and impressed the restaurant’s manager so much he was asked to perform a full concert. With the release of his debut single “Half Whiskey, Half Lonely” in 2019, his career as a musician had officially begun. Since then he has released four more singles, highlighted by 2020’s “Ice Cold Therapy” which has amassed over one million streams on Spotify and an EP, “Memory and a Dirt Road.”
As for Carson Jeffrey, he grew up listening to country music artists like Cross Canadian and Ragweed in his hometown of Cat Spring, Texas. Jeffrey also got his start in the country music scene in 2019 with the release of his debut album “Muchos Sonidos,” which featured his hit song “Ranch Girl Dream.” Jeffrey is a versatile country artist, focusing on making music he enjoys rather than trying to fit a certain style. Locals might be familiar with Jeffrey because he graduated from Texas A&M in 2019, making him a member of the long list of Aggies who have found success in country music.
This concert is part of Harry’s Acoustic Summer Series which brings live country music to the bar every Wednesday. For first time visitors, know that Harry’s is strictly 18+. Doors open at 9 p.m. and tickets can be purchased before the event for $10 on Harry’s website.
