Kree Harrison is a Texas native, born about 200 miles from the BCS area in Port Arthur. She grew up in Woodville, Texas, before moving to Nashville to pursue her singing career. In 2016 she released her first album “This Old Thing,” and four years later, she decided to drop another sentimental album.
“Chosen Family Tree” dives deep into telling Kree’s family life in the song “Mother” and how her close friends are her family in “Chosen Family Tree.” These two songs, in particular, paint a picture for listeners to understand what Kree has gone through to be the woman she is today.
The album has 12 tracks, and every song features Kree’s own country music style. Her voice is like a mix of Kasey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood, which creates beautiful sounding vocals.
“That’s How Hearts Get Broken” seems like a fitting song to play driving down a country road with the windows down while thinking about a time when your heart got broken. Yes, that sounds depressing, but it’s nice when a song lets us imagine a time in the singers’ life that relates to a similar situation we’ve gone through.
A song to put on repeat is “Make It Easy.” The guitar strumming and vocals make this track complete, captivating us, and making us feel what Kree feels. Of course, after listening to this song, it sure gets stuck in your head! But that’s not always a bad thing!
