It’s official! On March 2, Governor Abbott announced that the City of Bryan is now a designated Music Friendly Community by the Texas Music Office! Bryan will be joining some 30 other Texas cities with this designation, communities that place a premium on music. So this month, at March’s First Friday, the Grand Stafford Theater will host their usual free concert, but this time, you can bet it’ll be rowdy! Come on out to celebrate, holler and stomp along to the music of the Brandon Hodde Band with the Mark Daniel Band, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Of course both bands are native to Texas. Brandon Hodde got his start in the Czech music scene, playing with his grandpa and parents, and then went on to start his own Texas country band. His music is focused on honesty, relatability, energy, and encouraging others to reach for their dreams, and his band has opened for the likes of Kevin Fowler, Bart Crow, and Eli Young Band and Reckless Kelly.
After returning from Army Basic Camp, Aggie class of 2019 Mark Daniel started playing country music in his garage, putting the focus on lyrics that meant something and on “improving somebody’s day three minutes at a time.” The band now combines the influences of guitarist Michael Rodriguez, electric guitarist Greg Snider, and bass player James Robertson for a sound that blends country, blues, and classic rock.
This is truly one of our local historic moments, so come on out to cheer our good fortune and get ready for more music, better music, and a heck of a celebration at this month’s First Friday concert!
