Orchard Tours at Royalty Pecan Farms

It is said that every American is at most three generations removed from the farm, which explains a lot of the misconceptions that circle around agriculture. Many farmers and ranchers want nothing more than to correct those misunderstandings, so welcoming people out to the farm for a chance to see the real happenings is extremely important.

Local wine is in ever-growing demand, and it seems that more and more Texas wines appear on the market daily. Viticulture is rapidly expanding in the Lone Star State, and as long as Texans have pride in their state, these homegrown wines will continue to flourish.

That’s what makes opportunities like orchard tours hard to pass up.

Royalty Pecan Farms, located off Highway 21 between Bryan-College Station and Caldwell, is a family owned and operated pecan farm that also serves as a tourist attraction for the area. Here, the public has the chance to meet with those in charge of the farm to understand more about pecans and pecan production.

Royalty Pecan Farms is hosting an orchard tour and wine tasting on Saturday, April 7. The orchard tour takes the visitor on a historical journey of the farm’s past, from how the farm got started to how grew to its current operation. Tour goers also get the opportunity to crack pecans and taste-test some of the products. The tour begins at 12:30 p.m. and lasts around an hour. Tickets are $5 per person and children ages 4 and younger ride for free.

The wine tasting occurs after the orchard tour is complete. Visitors are invited to head over to the gift shop, where those 21 and over can enjoy a complimentary flight of three Texas wines.  The gift shop also offers homemade delicacies, gifts and specialty foods in addition to the selection of wines. The tasting begins at 1 p.m. and wraps up at 4 p.m.

If you can’t make it on April 7, don’t fret. Tours are offered every Saturday throughout the year, with three tours being offered each weekend in November and December. Special manager’s tours are offered on the second Saturday of the month for no additional cost. Wine tastings are only available on the first Saturday of the month, so plan your future trips accordingly.
