Holiday Events Sure to Get You Into the Holiday Spirit

It’s time to get in the holiday spirit! With movie screenings, holiday concerts and festive drinks, there’s plenty to do! Mark your calendar with these events so you don’t miss a second of all things merry and bright!

Christmas in the Backyard Tuesday, Dec. 8, 6-9 p.m.

The Stella Hotel is hosting Christmas in the Backyard where they will be screening the Christmas classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas outdoors on their lawn. The movie will begin at 6 p.m. and a hot chocolate bar, cider, cookies, and popcorn will be available for purchase. The Stella also recommends bringing your own blanket and chair to the screening. While the event is free, The Stella asks that you RSVP through this link to ensure that there is adequate space for social distancing. Christmas in the Backyard is in conjunction with The Local, which you can learn more about here.

Howdy Holly-Days  Saturday, Dec. 12, 5-9 p.m.

The Arts Council of Brazos Valley invites you to join them at Northgate for Howdy Holly-Days, a sip-and-shop event designed to attend with anyone, friends and family alike. This event is extra festive, complete with snow and holiday-themed drinks to amp up the spirit. Additionally, enjoy shopping from local vendors, carolers, and live entertainment all night long. Admission to Howdy Holly-Days is free, and there will also be free parking available in the Northgate Parking Garage and Surface Lot in front of the Dixie Chicken until 9 p.m.

Holiday Pops Concert Dec. 17

The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra will be having their annual holiday concert, though they recently announced that it will only be available via a video option to best ensure the safety of the community. Music Director Marcelo Bussiki will be conducting the Symphony’s Brass and Percussion sections with organist James Faith, the Christ United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir and The Canticle Ringers. The Holiday Pops Concert will be filmed on Dec. 13 at Christ United Methodist Church, and ticket holders will receive a video link to the concert about four days later to enjoy the concert in the safety of their own homes. Tickets for the concert can be purchased for $35 in person at the MSC box office or online at the TAMU Box Office’s website or on the BVSO’s website. Guests who have already purchased tickets for the event will be automatically enrolled in the via video option.

These events have all been designed to garner the most holiday fun and cheer while still remaining safe to keep you healthy all season long. Take advantage of a chance to get out and about, enjoy a classic Christmas movie, holiday shop and cozy up at home for an exceptional concert.
