Album Review: “Divide” by Ed Sheeran

English singer/songwriter, Ed Sheeran, released his newest full-length record, “Divide,” on March 3. Previous albums by Sheeran shook the music scene with Sheeran carving out his own place in the industry and becoming one of the most well known artists of the past few years.

“Divide” is already the top-selling album of 2017 and sold over 300,000 copies in the first week after the release date. It features a mixture of sounds that are all classic Ed Sheeran. Slow, love ballads like “Happier,” “Perfect,” and “Supermarket Flowers” steal the hearts of listeners, and upbeat tracks like “What do I know?,” “Galway Girl,” and “New Man” are the perfect summer anthems. The album also includes the highly popular and familiar singles “Castle on a Hill” and “Shape of You” that had Sheeran fans anticipating the full album release. Much like past Ed Sheeran releases, “Divide” is an album that we expect to withstand time and hold its place in the industry for years to come.
