The Maroon Weekly Internship Program is one of the most sought-after and respected programs in the region. Interns are offered valuable, unparalleled hands-on experience; our writers write and publish weekly; our marketing/public relations interns are tasked with numerous real-world responsibilities; our designers, photographers, and videographers produce work each week that is broadcast to the public. Internships at MW are the real thing; interns take away skills that prepare them for employment in their respective industries. Many are also accepted into graduate programs solely based on portfolios produced during their intern tenure at the publication.
Maroon Weekly is looking for sharp minds, candidates who are passionate about what they do, who love art, culture, music, sports, and more. Motivated interns with an interest in entertainment as well as a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment should apply.
On average, interns are required to work a maximum of 15-20 hours per week. Interns are able to work entirely from home or any desired location with the exception of scheduled team meetings.
Writing interns are responsible for producing stories for publication each week. Writers are groomed to draft, write, and edit material for publication across all of our media channels. Writers conduct interviews, research, and–most importantly–develop their own voices and the ability to write within various miens–as food writers, music and film critics, and more. It’s an exciting position that cultivates creativity and professionalism with an emphasis on what it means to be a writer in the 21st century. Candidates must submit two writing samples.
Marketing/Public Relations (Maroon Weekly Street Team):
Our marketing/pr interns are trained to engage the public and to implement a number of promotional experiences for the public each month–including street team events, photo shoots, social media management, and various digital promotions we host each week via our media channels. Marketing/pr interns are given unique opportunities to manage aspects of the publication on their own volition–something that sets Maroon Weekly apart from other intern programs.

Account managers are offered commissions for ad sales. Please specify if you are interested in being an account manager for commission or for school credit. Account Managers are trained to pitch sales via email and in-person to potential advertisers. Candidates must have their own transportation.
