Getting a taste for cardio – Want to work out with a group but don’t want to cough up a lot of dough? Well you’re in luck A&M Rec Center members. The Group RecXercise program offers a variety of free classes daily for those who refuse to pay $70 for an unlimited pass. Current classes offered include cardio in water, abs and back, and triple threat to name a few, but are scheduled to change with the new semester. If any of the other classes happen to catch your fancy, class passes are sold at the low price of $3 a piece for all of you out there who have commitment issues. Vertical Music for Non Horizontal thinkers – Great news for thinkers and music fans! On January 25th, 2010 the Sonic Crossroads event in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston is presenting Vertical Thoughts: Music for Violin and Piano. This free show is going to feature Theresa Salomon on violin and Kathryn Woodard on piano and is open to the public. This great free show is going to be held at the Bush Presidential Conference Center at 7:30 p.m. Did I mention it was free? Artsy steps – Come be a part of the artistic stepping going on in downtown Bryan coming this February. Known as the Art Step, this creative event brings together the likes of musicians, artists and downtown business communities in order to offer all kinds of entertainment. Activities include live music from jazz to classical, art demonstrations (not protests), and plenty of organizations full of useful and artistic information. They even have horse drawn carriages! Acoustics and Drink Specials – This month Schotzi’s Bar will be hosting an array of musical artists to cater to a variety of musical tastes. On January 19th, musical group Emory Quinn will be performing at Schotzi’s at 10:30 p.m. Described as “versatile, not county, not pop, and not American,” this group should be very interesting to decipher and interpret on your own. They will also be hosting folk rock group Nelo on January 22nd and Johnny Cooper, a Texas Indie artist, on January 26th.
