Stage Center

Swingers! – Before anyone gets too excited, I’m not talking about relationship swingers. I’m talking about swing dancing. If you missed out on their cool day lesson and dance February 13th then fret not because Texas Aggie Swing Cats offers free lessons EVERY Thursday night starting at 8 p.m. Nothing is necessary to attend, not even money! Classes are located in G. Rollie White Coliseum (on A&M Campus, Google it) in room 266. Show up early so you can have to time to get lost in that rat maze. Complimentary dance is held afterwards from 9 pm – 11 pm after every lesson. Visit tasc.tamu.edu for more information.

Clean Hip to the Hop. – Get excited you anti explicit lyrics proponents because on March 3rd, Aura J will be performing at Rudder Theatre. Known for his ‘mature and innovative’ approach to music, Aura J has quickly become a successful internet musician. His music contains no profanity or explicit lyrics “out of respect” which seems like a daunting task all in itself. Tickets will be available to the public for $10 and $5 for students. The show starts at 7:30 so stop by and check out this young writer/singer. More information available at: http://www. Auraj.net.

Karaoke, where everyone feels like a singer – Like to sing in the shower? Think you sound really good and could possibly get a record label? Then test it out by going out and singing karaoke somewhere like O’bannons on Tuesday nights. A newly remolded Irish pub located on Northgate, O’bannons has beverages for everyone’s tastes! $2.50 long islands on Tuesday nights is a great idea for all you chickens out there too scared to go on stage without a little juicy courage. No cover and they even let 18 yrs olds in for free—not very common now a days—so stop by and check it out. If anything, it’s a great time to be had by all consisting of loud sing-a-longs, lots of laughter at the singer’s expense, and cheering for the all the good and bad apples!

Who: All the idols

Sing in the dark rating: 4 out of 5 long islands

Theatrical Cheapness – A call to all theatrical aficionados and everyone else. If you looking for something fun to do on a Thursday night and swing dancing isn’t for you, (confused? Read above and keep up kids), then consider StageCenter, the Brazos Valley’s “oldest and only full range community theatre.” I’m not sure what full range means but it sounds fancy. Thursday’s are date nights and are two for the price of one. Exchange rate totals it to be about $6 a seat. Wine also provided for all those charitable donators in the audience. Located at 201-B W. 26th street on top of Mr. G’s Pizza.
