Quarterback Tebow, Nike Agree To Endorsement Deal

Former University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow reportedly signed an endorsement deal with shoe athletic giant, Nike worth $300,000 annually.

Tebow is one of the most popular athletes in Florida, as was proven by a gathering of crowds between 1,000 to 2,000 people for autograph signings in Jacksonville and Palm Beach recently.

The 2010 NFL Draft kicks off this month in New York City and former Buffalo Bills quarterback, Jim Kelly, was reported to have dinner with the Heisman Trophy winner to recommend him to Buffalo.

The Bills have the No. 9 pick in the draft.

Tebow’s pre-draft tour takes him to the Browns Tuesday and to the Redskins Thursday and Friday, it was reported.

FDA Approves Modification Of Pain Pill OxyContin

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a modified version of the potent painkiller OxyContin that will make it more difficult for users to interfere with the drug.

OxyContin was first introduced on the market in 1995 to treat persistent pain and was designed to be taken orally and digested over a 12-hour period, according to reports. Purdue Pharma, the drug’s manufacturer, said the current version of the drug–in tablet form–can be chewed or crushed, allowing the active ingredient in the drug to be released all at once.

The reformulated product will now form into a gel if the user attempts to dissolve it in liquid, making it less likely to be injected or inhaled, reports stated.

The new drug, which the company will start shipping in the third quarter, should regulate the flow of the active ingredient in the pill. It will stop selling the older version of the pill once shipping starts.

Tiger Denies Using HGH, Performance Enhancing Drugs

Tiger Woods stated Monday that his agent was contacted by federal agents investigating Canadian medical doctor Anthony Galea.

Woods is among a group of athlete treated by Galea, who is under investigation in Canada and the United States.

“Full cooperation, whenever they need me, but as of right now they have not asked for my time,” Woods said Monday at his news conference at Augusta National.

Galea is facing four drug-related charges in Canada, including a federal grand jury investigation in the U.S. after his assistant was arrested at the U.S.-Canada border with HGH.

Woods said he never received performance-enhancing drugs from the doctor.

“He never gave me HGH or any PEDs [performance-enhancing drugs],” Woods said. “I have never taken any of those. I’ve never taken any illegal drug, ever, for that matter.”

Galea treated Woods with a platelet-rich plasma therapy at his home in Florida for his Achilles tendon and knee, according to the golfer.

Authorities already reportedly interviewed Mets’ Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran, who were also treated by Galea.
