Ninja Assassin- A Great Rental!

Lyndsay Humphrey

When Mika Coretti, a forensic researcher, stumbles upon documents and notes from ancient clans, she undoubtedly bites off way more than she can chew.  Her colleagues think she is crazy to be looking for these phantom Ninja clans, but Mika feels that she has sufficient evidence and begins to investigate more.  Little did she know she was being watched from every angle, by the CIA, FBI, and every Ninja you could possibly imagine.

Ninja Assassin is reminiscent of Kill Bill, minus Uma Thurman and a yellow jump suit.  The acting is solid and the plot is surprisingly original. For those of you with a weak stomach, this is a no go; at times I had to look away. From the very first minute of the movie, heads are rolling and blood is spewing in every direction possible, but behind all of the blood there is a really good movie.

What makes this movie worth the watch is that it shows how ninjas became ninjas. It showed them from tiny boys to full grown men. With this, the movie specifically follows one boy, Raizo, who seems to be a little more talented and driven than the rest. As loyal as Raizo is to his clan, something goes terribly wrong forcing him to leave the Clan and forever be hunted down.

When the plot brings the two main characters, Mika and Raizo, it instantly becomes and action packed rollercoaster. Both being hunted by the government and ninjas alike, Mika and Raizo create an unusual and unexpected bond, but their chemistry is undeniable. While it is one of the most fantastically bloody movies of all times, there is also glimmers of romance throughout the film. So guys, although I wouldn’t recommend this movie for a date night, it would be fun in a big group of people.
