CheapSkate: A cheapskate’s guide to having fun for free or so cheap it’s like you’re stealing.

iPiano – Ha! I bet all the iFans got really excited just now. Unfortunately, this isn’t a Mac attack (law suit?) . Anyways, if you happen to have an appreciation for real piano music then stop by Hagler Auditorium (located in the Bush Presidential Conference Center) for an amazing piano show by Jose Feghali. He’s an awesome pianist and the winner of a fancy gold medal. Concert starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm on Thursday, March 11. The most important thing you need to know is that this concert is free to the public—much like many iPhone applications. So maybe you Mac lovers can still appreciate it! Email aparkoff@tamu.edu for more information.

Beneficial Cadets – If you can’t seem to muster up any appreciation for piano, then consider stopping by Rudder Auditorium for a singing cadet’s concert to benefit CARPOOL. This goes out to all those peeps who have gotten really trashed on Northgate and had CARPOOL give them a ride. Consider all you non-CARPOOL users included, as well—mainly because of CARPOOL’s dedication to keep those wasted people off the streets. Even if you don’t like the singing cadets, consider stopping by and dishing out some cash. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to CARPOOL. The show starts at 7pm. Remember, safety first, kids. To learn more, you can find them on Facebook.

Cheap Ice Dancing – Because I care about you people who will be stuck here during Spring Break, I decided to look for something for you to do. Rejoice, because I succeeded! On Thursday, March 18 Arctic Wolf is holding an Ice Dancing Clinic, which is a fun part of figure skating that anyone can learn. Worried because you suck at ice skating? Don’t be! The only requirements are that you be able to skate forward, know how to stop, and have $20. You don’t even need to bring a partner, so if your significant other ditched you, don’t fret! The class starts at 6:45pm and lasts an hour. Granted, $20 is on the higher end of my cheap scale, but this was just too great to pass up. So get out there and break a leg! Spring Sports? – I’ll continue on this pity trend and suggest some sporting events for those stranded here during Spring Break. Apparently, many Aggie athletes will also be stranded here for some part of spring break, so stop by and support them! On March 13, the A&M Equestrian team will be competing against New Mexico State at 10am in the Brazos County Expo Complex. On March 13 – 18, the A&M baseball team will be taking on a series of contenders—so quit making excuses and feeling sorry for yourself and just get up and go! The men’s and women’s tennis teams will be playing various matches over the weekend of March 19 and 21. You have to be quiet, so don’t go if you’re noisy. Best of luck, my BCS Spring Breakers!
